Mr. Shibu K. Thomas currently serves as the Joint General Manager and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of South Indian Bank. He is responsible for driving the cyber security strategy of the Bank and ensuring its alignment with the business. He is also responsible for selecting, implementing and operationalizing 17 different security solutions/services of the Next Gen Security Operations Center of the Bank. A graduate in Engineering, Shibu brings more than 27 years of experience in the IT and Information Security fields to the table. He was previously heading the IT Operations Group of the Bank.
He has extensive experience in standards like ISO 27001:2013, ISO 9001, IS Governance including policy formulation and implementation, security compliance management etc. He has been involved in the country-wide rollout of large projects and has vast project management experience including transformation projects. Good domain knowledge in SOC operations, Incident management and response, IDAM, SIEM, Network Security, Third party risk management, DR/BCP, Data classification, DLP etc. He is well versed in both IT and security architecture and risk assessment of various IT initiatives, and improving the cyber security practices of the Bank.
He strongly believes in teamwork and has led several large initiatives of the Bank including the developing of two greenfield Data Centers, multiple rounds of IT revamp, SOC revamp etc.
He and his team has won several accolades including the IBA award for cyber security for three years in a row, Innovative Security Leader of the year award, Best Security Team of the year award, Best Security Project of the year award etc.
