Dr. Anil Abraham was the Prof and Head of Dermatology at St. John’s Medical College . Following retirement , he is now Dermatologist and Trichologist at Abrahams Skin & Hair Clinic. He has more than thirty years of experience in both teaching and practice that includes Dermatology and Trichology . He has been selected as Best Teacher by his students for several years in a row
He has an impressive academic record with ranks in both Ist and IInd PUC and eleven University Gold Medals during MBBS. He was awarded the Pope Paul Award for the Best Outgoing Graduate of his batch. He was awarded the Kataria Gold Medal for the Best Postgraduate in all disciplines. He was selected for a prestigious fellowship at Stanford University,USA where he trained under Prof Farber. He subsequently was a Rotary Exchange Fellow to Queen’s Hospital Birmingham.
He has numerous international publications and has authored chapters in many standard reference books . He has been a speaker of repute in international conferences He was awarded the Patrick Yesudian Oration Award in Tamilnadu by the Hair Society for his work on hair loss and the LK Bhutani Award for Teaching and Clinical Research in Dermatology by the Indian Association of Dermatologists in 2023.
He was one of the original voices of Bangalore radio. His comic character Uncle Appukuttan Nair was familiar to many . He has a visible presence on social media and his reels as an old Tamilian Kuppuswamy and various other characters including Simple Sudha and Coconut Oil Keshavan are very popular . He is a stand up comic and theatre artiste and has travelled with his plays and stand up comedy both in India and abroad .
