Dr Anil Kumar has been working as the Lead Consultant for Aster Cardiac Sciences at Aster Medcity, Kochi Kerala since 2014. Prior to this,he worked as Head of Department of Cardiology at the Belhoul Specialty Hospital for the last seven years and was leading the interventional cardiology work at the hospital. He was the Professor of Cardiology at JIPMER, Pondicherry, one of the premier medical institutes of India, till 2005. He was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship and trained in the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in Cardiac Electrophysiology. Dr Anil Kumar started the program of coronary angiography and angioplasty, including primary angioplasty in JIPMER in 1995 and has trained many post doctoral fellows in invasive cardiology. He was an examiner for DM Cardiology at the Delhi and Pondicherry Universities. He has presented papers in major international conferences including the World Congress of Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. He has fifteen publications in peer reviewed journals, including Heart and the European Heart Journal. He has authored chapters in textbooks in cardiology. He is a regular speaker at many national and international cardiology conferences and has been organizing CMEs and academic programs for the medical community at large. He has been instrumental in starting the first overseas chapter of the Cardiological Society of India in Dubai, UAE. He took the lead in starting MRCP PACES examinations for the first time in Kerala at Aster Medcity, Kochi and is involved in setting up Core Medcial Training of the Royal Colleges at Aster Medcity.
