Kunal is President – Next Gen Verticals at Tech Mahindra. The Next Gen Verticals business brings together a portfolio of vertical-specific applications and platforms, (re)imagined, built, and run using modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, data, and cybersecurity. Under his leadership, the organisation has advanced its AI-first positioning, strengthened cognitive operating models for global enterprises, and expanded its portfolio with platforms including TechM Orion for Agentic AI and Project Indus - a foundational Large Language Model designed for Indic languages and dialects that has received global recognition for its ambition, technical approach, scalability, internationally.
Kunal also serves on the Mahindra Group’s Technology Council, a leadership forum that shapes key technology and platform decisions across the Group’s diverse businesses.
Kunal joined Tech Mahindra as the Chief Digital Services Officer, where he led the company’s digital solutions and capability units, strengthened partnerships with global technology companies, and drove the evolution of next-generation services. In this capacity, he also served on the Tech Mahindra executive team, contributing to strategic decisions across both organic digital businesses and new incubation initiatives.
Before joining Tech Mahindra, Kunal spent close to 19 years with HCL Technologies, where, in his last role, he headed the company’s Digital & Analytics business and practice in Europe. Kunal is passionate about building high-performing organizations that leverage next-generation technologies to solve complex business problems and deliver meaningful outcomes. He draws inspiration from sports and the startup ecosystem, particularly their emphasis on agility, discipline, and continuous improvement.
In 2023, The Entrepreneur (media group and magazine) recognized Kunal as one of the top 25 Tech Trailblazers in India for his contributions to the technology industry, particularly his work in modern technologies. During his time at HCL, he received several accolades, most notably the CEO Award for breakthrough service offering development. Kunal is also a member of the Nasscom North India Chapter.
Kunal completed his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore, and holds an Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Allahabad.
